The Only Wise Ruling from the International Court of Justice
By Daniel Ben Abraham
The only descent response from the ICJ is to rule with one voice that they refuse to hear the case against Israel while terrorists are still holding Israeli women and children hostages. Any criticism of Israel’s behavior would be criticism of a parent fighting to get back their kidnapped child. And by going against such natural law, the Court will destroy itself by its own credibility.
Judaism has existed for 3000 years and will exist long after the U.N. and the ICJ, and even South Africa are long gone. If we are going to seek to identify a moral standard that we hold the world to, the Court itself must be moral. The Court must recognize that there are 7 million Jews in Israel surrounded by 440 million Arabs, many of whom have been trying to commit genocide against Israel since its founding. How can the Court examine the myopic question of just Israeli genocide without examining the question of Arab genocide against the Jews? How can the Court decide to put a magnifying glass on just the Jews but not decades of apartheid in South Africa, Russia sending Muslim migrants to its front line to fight against Ukraine, Turkey’s genocide against the Kurds, or Hamas’s genocide against Jews? Or the countless others around the world?
It’s not just a decision the Court makes, but the world it creates by making it. If the ICJ scrutinizes one party different than all the others, then it has already discriminated, regardless its ruling.
The United Nations has already failed to stop the Ukraine war, and the is not going to stop China’s actions on Taiwan. The United Nations has already made itself obsolete by declaring that a 3000 year old Jewish city and 3000 year old Jewish Temple is not Jewish in U.N. Security Council Resolution 2334. The U.N. can declare Judea not Jewish all day long, like declaring the sky green and the grass is blue. But a teacher who teaches falsely will eventually lose all their students. The court by ruling against Israel is only destroying itself by destroying its own credibility. The Court has no moral right to hear this case while children are being held hostage, and only does so from a perspective blinded by anti-Semitism. From the future looking back, it will be seen only as the Jews put on trial for trying to get back kidnapped children after the most brutal attack since the holocaust. The trial itself will be seen as antisemitic and the Court morally bankrupt, let alone if the Court rules against Israel. The only wise thing the judges can do …is dismiss the case.
